Before the watershed moment of Joan of Arc’s emergence onto the historical scene in 1429, Charles the Dauphin of France was derisively called by the English and their Burgundian allies, the 'King of Bourges,' yet by his death in 1461, he had presided over the expulsion of the English from all of their continental possessions except Calais.
