This book is about the life of one pioneering Ugandan women: Miriamu Ojanjo Nakooli. It is the story about her life and her struggle to educate the people in her community during the last millennium. It highlights the impact of colonialism on the customs and traditions of some of the people in eastern Uganda and it evidences how women played a significant role in the struggle to educate their community. As a historical document, ’Miriamu Ojanjo Nakooli: The Pioneer’ stands in defiance of the myopic men who tried to erase this story in order to minimise the memory of the impact and contribution of the visionary women within the church and wider community.
