Jillian is my six year old granddaughter. Jill, her brother, Nick, and I spend a lot of time together telling stories, drawing, coloring, and dancing. One winter’s day, we started making up stories. One involved the beach and a Unicorn, Jillian’s favorite place and thing. We decided to write a book about the story we created. It is about a family who has a thrilling encounter with a mysterious and spectacular, Unicorn. 'Miracle at Unicorn Beach' is the book I put together using Jillian’s artwork, my artwork, a few random internet photos, and photographs of our experiences at the beach. I wrote the dialog of the book in a way that through repetitive words and phrases, it will help young readers learn to read and love to read.Writing has become my passion. I have written two novels in addition to my two books of memoirs about my 30 year journey with Parkinson’s disease. I teach ESL at a local community college. I love creating with my grandchildren. For years it has been my desire to write a children’s book. One day with Jillian, our collaboration came freely and quickly. Our imaginations were on fire. That is where 'The Miracle at Unicorn beach was born.
