Depuis le début des années 2000, les flux migratoires clandestins au départ du Cameroun vers l’Afrique du Nord connaissent une intensification notable. Cette dynamique s’inscrit dans un contexte marqué par des difficultés socio-économiques persistantes, un chômage élevé des jeunes et des tensions politiques, limitant les perspectives d’avenir. Face à cette situation, une partie importante de la jeunesse camerounaise s’engage dans des parcours migratoires à haut risque, dans l’espoir d’améliorer ses conditions de vie. Cet article vise à analyser les dynamiques, les acteurs, les pratiques et les impacts socio-spatiaux de cette migration. La méthodologie repose sur une approche qualitative fondée sur un échantillonnage boule de neige et la réalisation de 25 entretiens semi-directifs auprès de migrants camerounais et de personnes-ressources. Les résultats montrent que la migration clandestine est motivée par une combinaison de facteurs économiques, sociaux et politiques. Elle s’organise autour de réseaux transnationaux impliquant divers acteurs, notamment les migrants, les passeurs, les intermédiaires et certaines organisations criminelles, parfois en interaction avec des agents étatiques corrompus. Ces acteurs structurent les parcours migratoires selon une logique fragmentée et hiérarchisée. Les pratiques migratoires révèlent une forte capacité d’adaptation des migrants, fondée sur l’usage des réseaux sociaux, la mobilisation de ressources informelles et le recours à des itinéraires variés à travers l’Afrique de l’Ouest et le Sahara. Toutefois, ces parcours sont marqués par des risques élevés, incluant violences, exploitation, conditions de transport précaires et exposition aux milieux hostiles. Enfin, la migration clandestine produit des impacts significatifs, tant sur les trajectoires individuelles des migrants que sur les familles restées au Cameroun, entre espoirs d’amélioration et situations de vulnérabilité accrue.
