Memoirs of Andrew Sherburne: A Pensioner of the Navy of the Revolution is an autobiographical account of Andrew Sherburne’s experiences during the American Revolution. Sherburne was a sailor in the Continental Navy and fought in several battles including the Battle of Valcour Island and the Battle of Saratoga. He was also present at the surrender of British General John Burgoyne. The book provides a detailed account of Sherburne’s life, from his childhood in New Hampshire to his experiences as a sailor in the navy. He describes the harsh conditions of life at sea, including battles with British ships and storms that threatened their survival. He also writes about his interactions with other sailors and officers, including John Paul Jones. In addition to his naval experiences, Sherburne also writes about his life after the war, including his struggles to receive a pension from the government and his eventual settlement in Maine. The book provides a valuable firsthand account of the American Revolution from the perspective of a sailor, shedding light on the experiences of those who fought on the seas. This scarce antiquarian book is a facsimile reprint of the old original and may contain some imperfections such as library marks and notations. Because we believe this work is culturally important, we have made it available as part of our commitment for protecting, preserving, and promoting the world’s literature in affordable, high quality, modern editions, that are true to their original work.
