Numa micro-rede, haverá muitas GD e essas GD têm de funcionar em sincronização com cada sistema. Mas em algumas GD o despacho de energia pode ser controlável e pode ser melhorado para funcionar como geradores activos. A micro-rede será interligada à rede principal através de um conversor back-to-back. O método de queda de frequência será implementado no lado da micro-rede do conversor back-to-back, e os geradores activos na micro-rede têm de alterar o seu despacho de energia com base nesta queda de frequência. Nesta microrrede, quatro inversores estarão a funcionar em paralelo para fornecer energia às cargas da microrrede, em que o conversor back-to-back fornece a energia da carga de base.
