Die Entwicklung mathematischer Modelle auf dem Gebiet der Medizin ist nicht moglich ohne eine standige Diskussion und Zusammenarbeit mit Medizinern, die einerseits die notwendigen Daten liefern und andererseits die physiologischen und bio­ logischen Modellansatze mitentwickeln. Anders als in der reinen Mat:lematik kommt eine sinnvolle an­ wendungsbezogene Biomathematik ohne das Wissen und die Erfah­ rungen von Praktikern nicht aus. Die in der vorliegenden Arbeit vorgestellten mathematischen Modelle physiologischer und biochemischer Prozesse wurden in Zusammenarbeit mit Medizinern entwickelt. Die Modelle im Bereich der Gerinnungsphysiologie entstanden in Zusammenarbeit mit P.D. Dr. med. E. Jacobi, Frau Dr. G. Bremer, Medizinische Klinik und Poliklinik C, P.D. Dr. med. H. Trobisch, Institut fUr Blutgerinnungswesen und Transfusionsmedizin; die Modelle aus dem Bereich der Pharmakokinetik wurden zusammen mit Prof. Dr. med. D. Reinhardt, Kinderklinik, erarbeitet. Herrn Prof. Dr. H. Klinger vom Institut fUr Mathematische Sta­ tistik mochte ich fUr viele Diskussionen danken, ebenso Herrn Dipl. Math. D. Hafner vom Institut fUr Pharmakologie. Herrn Dr. O. Althabe danke ich fUr die freundliche Uberlassung seiner Daten. Frau G. Horst danke ich fUr die Anfertigung der Zeichnungen.
