Die Zeitschrift "Mathematik im Unterricht" stellt verschiedenartigste Aspekte für einen modernen und sinnstiftenden Mathematikunterricht in den Mittelpunkt. Dabei werden aktuelle bildungspolitische Themen ebenso diskutiert wie innermathematische und fachdidaktische Fragestellungen. Die Zeitschrift ist zudem offen für Beiträge aus den verwandten Unterrichtsfächern Geometrisches Zeichnen, Darstellende Geometrie oder Informatik sowie für Beiträge aus den primären Bezugswissenschaften Pädagogik, Psychologie oder Soziologie. Die Zielgruppe der Zeitschrift sind interessierte LehrerInnen aller Schultypen in den Sekundarstufen I und II sowie Lehrende und ForscherInnen an den Pädagogischen Hochschulen und Universitäten. Die Ausgabe 7 umfasst 11 Beiträge von 14 AutorInnen und fokussiert auf die Schwerpunkte "Lehre von Mathematik", "Reflexionen über Fachdidaktik" und "Beiträge aus dem Panoptikum".
