Dieses Buch behandelt eine Befragung von Beschäftigten in Unternehmen der Automobilindustrie. Es wird gefragt wie der interkulturelle Alltag am Arbeitsplatz aussieht und von den Arbeitnehmern bewertet wird, wie vergleichbar oder unterschiedlich die Lebensverhältnisse und Einstellungen von deutschen und türkischen Beschäftigten, von Frauen und Männern sind. Mit konflikttheoretischen Ansätzen aus der Ethnisierungsforschung wird untersucht, wie Ethnizität und das Fremde konstruiert werden. Diese Konstruktionen werden nach Lebenslagen und Geschlechtszugehörigkeit differenziert und mit der sozialen Konstruktion von Geschlecht, dem 'doing gender', verglichen. So sollen die jeweils spezifischen Konstruktionsmuster identifiziert werden. Ziel ist es, mögliche Konfliktpotentiale und auch Potentiale zur Konfliktbewältigung zwischen deutschen und ausländischen Gruppen herauszufiltern.
