Diese Probleme können durch die Kontrolle des ringförmigen Druckprofils gelöst werden, vor allem in den Bereichen, in denen der Bruchdruck und der Porendruckgradient zu nahe beieinander liegen, was bedeutet, dass das Bohrfenster eng ist. Managed Pressure Drilling ist eine neue und aufstrebende Technologie, die diese Probleme mindern kann. Sie verwendet spezielle Ausrüstung und Technologie zur Steuerung des ringförmigen Druckprofils, was durch die Anwendung eines Gegendrucks und die konstante Aufrechterhaltung des Drucks am Bohrlochboden erreicht wird.
