La présente étude est l’une des toutes premières tentatives visant à classer les États indiens les plus importants en fonction de leur potentiel d’utilisation des ressources solaires disponibles. Dans ce contexte, des indices de potentiel sont calculés sur la base de six facteurs principaux qui influencent l’utilisation efficace de l’énergie solaire et le classement. La sélection d’un État optimal parmi un ensemble d’États alternatifs sur la base de deux ou plusieurs attributs est un problème de prise de décision à attributs multiples (MADM). Cet ouvrage donne un aperçu des différentes approches MADM qui peuvent permettre de résoudre efficacement ce type de problèmes. De telles études sont susceptibles d’entraîner un changement de paradigme dans l’utilisation des technologies et la formulation des politiques énergétiques, car l’approche proposée fournit un cadre concret pour la réévaluation des politiques actuelles et la formulation de nouvelles politiques.
