La morte provoca angoscia e paura nella maggior parte delle persone. Pertanto, quando una patologia senza cura rivela la prossimità della fine della vita, porta con sé diversi conflitti. Questo libro cerca di descrivere ciò che è stato pubblicato negli ultimi cinque anni sui contributi della Psicologia ospedaliera nell’assistenza ai malati terminali e/o nelle cure palliative. Si propone inoltre di contribuire alla conoscenza scientifica sull’argomento e allo sviluppo di nuove ricerche su interventi praticabili per i malati terminali. È stata condotta una revisione bibliografica integrativa tra il 2009 e il 2014, utilizzando le seguenti banche dati: Periódicos Eletrônicos em Psicologia - (PEPsic); Scientific Electronic Library Online (SciELO). Sono stati identificati utilizzando i descrittori. Dopo aver acquisito i risultati, si è proceduto all’analisi del contenuto, che evidenzia lo sviluppo minimo degli studi sull’argomento nel periodo in questione, nonché la scarsa preparazione della società contemporanea ad affrontare la terminalità.
