Los libros académicos y su futuro, informe que indaga sobre las perspectivas políticas de tan importante asunto, es uno de los dos productos finales del proyecto The Academic Book of the Future, del Consejo de Investigación en Artes y Humanidades (AHRCAHRCAHRC , por sus iniciales en inglés) y la Biblioteca Británica (2014-2016). El otro, un informe del proyecto, fue elaborado por la profesora Marilyn Deegan. Ambos se complementan y reflejan el vasto conjunto de comunidades y contextos con los que se involucró el proyecto, al tiempo que hacen hincapié en las colaboraciones positivas, las soluciones creativas y los modelos de negocio, así como en las investigaciones en curso que abordan las tensiones en torno a la producción, divulgación, consumo y conservación del libro académico. 10
