A blood-soaked battlefield, the clash of ancient British warriors, and a prince torn between vengeance and destiny-such are the haunting images that unfold within these pages. In a world where the boundaries between loyalty and betrayal blur, the tragic hero’s journey is shaped by the ruthless ambitions of empires and the echoes of the Trojan foundation myth. This remarkable work, long shrouded in the mists of 16th-century English theatre, pulses with the raw energy of Elizabethan revenge tragedy, drawing on Senecan dramatic elements to explore the corrosive pursuit of power and the heavy cost of betrayal.Restored for today’s and future generations, this edition breathes new life into a historical drama play that once captivated the stages of London, notably in the 1595 quarto. Its narrative is woven with the intrigue of the Scythian invasion, where the fate of a kingdom hangs by a thread and the shadow of ancient warfare looms large. The play’s disputed authorship-often linked to Robert Greene and counted among the Shakespearean apocrypha-only deepens its allure, inviting readers to reconsider the boundaries of the canon and the origins of English dramatic tradition. This book was out of print for decades and is now republished by Alpha Editions, ensuring that its potent themes and literary artistry are not lost to time. More than a mere reprint, it stands as a collector’s item and a cultural treasure, meticulously restored for those who cherish the enduring drama of the past. Whether you are drawn by the spectacle of tragic conflict or the fascination of historical rediscovery, this edition offers a vivid portal to a turbulent era, where myth and history collide on the stage.
