Este trabalho foi escrito no âmbito do Mestrado em Direito e Economia da Arte na Universidade Helénica Internacional. A minha motivação para escrever este ensaio foi a minha sensibilidade em questões relacionadas com a proteção do património cultural. O ensaio analisa a estrutura da organização da UNESCO e a Convenção do Património Mundial e os critérios que um monumento deve cumprir para ser incluído na Lista do Património Mundial. Num outro capítulo, decidi estudar a minha cidade, Ioannina, e os monumentos que, na minha opinião, deveriam ser inscritos na Lista do Património Mundial por terem um valor universal excecional.
