In Volume One of Life’s Ups, Downs, & Warts - It’s My Story and I’m Sticking to It, Alex concluded Chapter 13 with the following words: 'What lay ahead was uncharted territory. I had an office but no formal tasks to do, and no secretary to keep me in line for the first time in 30 years.'The last 20+ years since Alex McCalla’s final retirement has been a mosaic of random happenings, events, and experiences - some singular, some multiple, with no particular preplanned time schedule. He took opportunities to be involved in activities that interested him, as they came along. Therefore, presenting them chronologically makes no sense. Instead, in this volume Alex tells these stories moving from global to regional to national events ending with those closest to home and family. At the same time there are things that needed to be kept up with regularly, such as family developments as the older generation passes and new ones arrive. For example, his mother’s passing in May of 2001 caused his siblings to agree to exchange weekly e-mail notes, and they committed to holding an annual Sibling Reunion, which they have done every year, except for 2020, when COVID-19 shut everything down. So how to present the next 20 years was a challenge.Alex presents them as eleven reasonably self-contained topical modules in this volume.
