Liés ensemble est une œuvre inspirée par les jeunes à risque et leur capacité à apprendre, à grandir et à transformer leur vie grâce à la danse. L’idée de cette œuvre est née de programmes de danse mis en place auprès de populations défavorisées en Virginie, au Mexique, au Panama et en Inde. Mes expériences d’enseignement dans ces endroits ont donné lieu à la mise en place d’un programme de danse plus long et plus complet en Arizona, avec un Boys and Girls Club. Le programme de danse de l’Arizona comprenait des exercices spécifiques destinés à aider les participants à apprendre les concepts du mouvement et à développer des mouvements originaux et significatifs. Le mouvement créatif est une forme d’expression personnelle qui permet aux jeunes d’assumer leur authenticité. Ce projet montre que le mouvement créatif a le pouvoir de renforcer la créativité, la collaboration et l’appropriation chez les jeunes en difficulté.
