L’histoire de l’enseignement supérieur et universitaire en République Démocratique du Congo (RDC) est riche et complexe, marquée par des évolutions politiques, sociales et économiques. La création des universités en République Démocratique du Congo (RDC) a été motivée par plusieurs raisons importantes, tant sur le plan social qu’économique et politique. L’enseignement supérieur a été introduit par les colonisateurs belges de 1885-1960, principalement à travers des institutions missionnaires. Les premiers établissements étaient destinés à former des élites africaines. Les Congolais formés dans ces institutions étaient souvent destinés à occuper des postes administratifs.
