Spätestens seit dem erfolgreichen Abschneiden bei den PISA-Studien ist das finnische Bildungssystem in den Fokus des öffentlichen Interesses gerückt. In der medialen Berichterstattung wurde das finnische Schulsystem in den vergangenen Jahren häufig als Musterbeispiel für wichtige bildungspolitische Herausforderungen ins Spiel gebracht. Dies trifft besonders auf das Thema der inklusiven Beschulung zu. Während bisher wenige Studien das finnische „Bildungswunder' ernsthaft hinterfragen, zielt dieses Buch auf eine objektive Darstellung der aktuellen Situation in Finnland ab. Dabei wird ein differenzierter und kritischer Blick auf die inklusive Beschulung in Finnland geworfen. Um dies zu erreichen, wird die inklusive Schul- und Unterrichtskultur mit Hilfe von qualitativen Forschungszugängen an ausgewählten finnischen Schulen untersucht. Die von Reich (2014) entwickelten Bausteine einer inklusiven Schule werden als Analysekriterien hinzugezogen. Basierend auf den Erkenntnissen dieser Untersuchung wird abschließend geprüft und diskutiert, was Deutschland (und andere Länder) im Hinblick auf das Thema Inklusion von Finnland lernen kann.
