I ratti bruni urbani (Rattus norvegicus) sono spesso coinvolti nella diffusione di Leptospira spp. I ratti bruni urbani (n = 116) sono stati catturati in diversi luoghi vicino ai laghi e agli stagni dei distretti di Holoseevo e Obolon di Kiev e sono stati analizzati per Leptospira spp. utilizzando un test di agglutinazione (MAT), condotto con 21 gruppi sierologici di Leptospira. È stata identificata la circolazione di Leptospira patogene tra la popolazione urbana di ratti bruni di Kiev, Ucraina. In totale, 65 ratti (56%) sono risultati positivi al MAT. Gli anticorpi contro i sierogruppi Grippotyphosa, Mini e Ballum erano dominanti nelle reazioni positive.
