The band Legião Urbana emerged in a context of important spatial transformations that took place in Brazil in the 1970s and 1980s. This was a period of transition from military dictatorship to the country’s redemocratisation process. This work presents the possibilities for understanding Brazilian space based on the lyrics of Legião Urbana, composed during this period. And in the link between Music and Geography, we present a Critical Geography approach to Brazilian space, which highlights a confluence between the band’s and Geography’s own readings and representations of Brazilian space. Therefore, the results show us that the band Legião Urbana, through its lyrics and positions on social reality, carried out an analysis of the socio-political situation in Brazil. It conveyed its representations of Brazilian space, creating and recreating identifications with readings and positions, which are currently reinterpreted by the band’s audience.
