La section d’introduction présente d’abord les principales raisons de l’application du raisonnement psychosomatique en médecine générale et en orthopédie. L’échantillon se compose de 70 patients hospitalisés en raison d’un traumatisme physique grave, et de 105 membres du groupe de contrôle. Les sujets ont été testés à l’aide des instruments suivants : Event Effect Scale, PTSS-10 Scale, FHI, Brief Eysenck’s Personality Inventory, LEAIQ, GHQ-60, General Questionnaire for Accidents. En ce qui concerne les patients immobiles, un niveau de cohésion familiale significativement plus élevé a été déterminé, tandis que les sujets présentant des lésions aiguës, bien que plus extravertis, ont significativement plus souvent adopté une attitude passive pour faire face aux conséquences du traumatisme. Alors que d’autres caractéristiques cliniques n’ont pas eu de corrélation significative avec les caractéristiques psychologiques ou psychopathologiques des sujets. Le contenu de rêve des traumatismes, de la guerre et de la vieille maison est en corrélation négative avec le névrosisme général et en corrélation positive avec certains symptômes de névrosisme général et les symptômes du SSPT. Tous les résultats obtenus ont été comparés aux résultats des recherches d’autres auteurs sur la psychopathologie, les rêves et autres problèmes cliniques des personnes traumatisées somatiquement.
