Malgré sa forme unique de tourisme (production de café et visites d’essai du café), le CBT a prospéré car les membres de la communauté locale se sont sentis propriétaires du CBT, ce qui a assuré la participation active des membres de la communauté et leur implication dans le projet. Ce livre explore l’état actuel du CBT en établissant un lien entre la participation de la communauté et l’impact perçu du tourisme communautaire sur la communauté locale. En général, les membres des communautés locales souhaitent que les décisions relatives au développement du tourisme dans leur région soient prises conjointement par la direction et les dirigeants locaux, en consultation directe avec les membres de la communauté locale. Ce n’est qu’à cette condition que les principes du tourisme communautaire seront respectés.
