L’exercice de garde-malades est universellement connu et s’inscrit dans la dimension socio-culturelle de la prise en charge globale des patients dans les hôpitaux. Les garde-malades travaillent d’arrache-pied dans les hôpitaux pour apporter l’appui aux équipes soignants et aux patients qu’ils assistent. Cette tâche à lourde responsabilité sociale, morale, physique est souvent perçue comme un travail ignoré. Ainsi cet ouvrage tente de revaloriser et de redorer l’image des garde-malades. Il décrit la situation des garde-malades dans les hôpitaux publics de Brazzaville (République du Congo), traite sur la problématique des garde-malades et les implications des garde-malades dans la prise en soins des patients. Il analyse leurs conditions d’hébergement ainsi que les incidences sur la santé des garde-malades. Le livre montre aussi la contribution des garde-malades dans les équipes de prise en soins des patients ainsi que leur résilience face aux situations qu’ils rencontrent dans les hôpitaux.
