Lo scopo di questo studio è stato quello di verificare la percezione degli operatori sociali riguardo all’intervento professionale con i dipendenti alcolisti in un’organizzazione del settore elettrico di Santa Catarina. A tal fine, sono stati intervistati i professionisti dei servizi sociali che lavorano con il Programma di prevenzione e trattamento dell’alcolismo e delle altre dipendenze chimiche (PPTAD). In breve, il programma è apprezzato solo dai dipendenti partecipanti e da alcuni dirigenti. Essi riconoscono e giustificano l’importanza della collaborazione del servizio sociale con il programma di prevenzione e trattamento. Essi indicano come punti positivi del programma le risorse finanziarie predefinite, la garanzia di mantenimento nel contratto collettivo, la possibilità di trattamento e recupero per il dipendente, l’apprezzamento del dipendente da parte dell’organizzazione, delle cliniche e dei professionisti specializzati. Mentre indicano la mancanza di impegno da parte della direzione e della famiglia, i pregiudizi e l’impreparazione ad affrontare la malattia come le maggiori difficoltà incontrate. Suggeriscono miglioramenti al programma, come un maggiore impegno da parte del management, maggiori investimenti nella formazione e nella prevenzione.
