L’EFTP est un processus de réorganisation de la formation qui vise à améliorer les compétences, les qualifications et les connaissances des stagiaires en apportant des changements et des améliorations aux méthodes de transfert des connaissances et aux infrastructures de formation en fonction des besoins de l’industrie. Les écoles polytechniques sont des établissements d’enseignement supérieur chargés de dispenser une formation technique et professionnelle. L’enseignement met fortement l’accent sur l’apprentissage basé sur la pratique, plutôt que sur l’apprentissage basé sur la théorie. Ce système de formation vise à former des cadres moyens tels que des techniciens, des artisans et des technologues. Pour y parvenir, les écoles polytechniques doivent fournir un environnement propice pour aider les étudiants à exceller dans leurs études. Il s’agit notamment de développer des infrastructures telles que des bibliothèques entièrement informatisées, des laboratoires répondant aux normes industrielles, des ateliers de formation, des amphithéâtres modernes, des salles de travaux dirigés bien équipées, etc. La recherche vise à éclairer les décideurs politiques et les responsables de l’élaboration des programmes d’études sur la nécessité de considérer la formation aux technologies de l’information dans les écoles polytechniques comme purement technique.
