Aux États-Unis, la thérapie cognitivo-comportementale, telle que l’ERP, est devenue un traitement standard pour les patients souffrant de troubles obsessionnels compulsifs. Dans certains cas, cependant, les tentatives de correction des contenus cognitifs exacerbent les obsessions. 2 cas de TOC sont illustrés, pour lesquels la thérapie Morita en hospitalisation a été appliquée après l’essai de la thérapie cognitivo-comportementale et a montré une évolution favorable. La thérapie Morita a été fondée par Shoma Morita en 1919 au Japon et est basée sur la psychologie orientale. La thérapie Morita en milieu hospitalier et la thérapie Morita en milieu ambulatoire sont présentées dans cet ouvrage. Depuis le début des années 1990, un nouveau courant de thérapie cognitivo-comportementale, appelé la troisième vague , a commencé à apparaître aux États-Unis. La thérapie d’acceptation et d’engagement (ACT) développée en 1999 est représentative de ce courant. Hofman,S.G. a publié un article intitulé La thérapie d’acceptation et d’engagement en 2008, et a soutenu que l’ACT n’est pas une nouvelle vague mais qu’elle est conceptuellement très similaire à la thérapie Morita. Cette étude se concentre sur des cas afin de comparer l’ACT et la thérapie Morita en ambulatoire.
