La riallocazione è una tecnica applicata agli ecosistemi naturali che hanno raggiunto una soglia irreversibile (ecosistemi degradati o desertificati) in cui il restauro o la riabilitazione non possono ricostruire l’ecosistema originale. Questa tecnica si basa sull’introduzione di specie alloctone e generalmente porta a un nuovo ecosistema diverso da quello preesistente, noto come 'ecosistema costruito'. Nelle zone aride e desertiche della Tunisia, sotto il bioclima arido mediterraneo e sahariano, il degrado degli ecosistemi naturali ha raggiunto la soglia di irreversibilità, per cui la tecnica del restauro o della riabilitazione non consente più a questi ecosistemi di tornare al loro stato iniziale. Il limite bioclimatico per il successo della riallocazione degli ecosistemi naturali nelle zone aride e desertiche della Tunisia è il sottobosco inferiore del bioclima mediterraneo arido. Il limite climatico è rappresentato da una piovosità annua di almeno 150 mm.
