Lo Zanthoxylum acanthopodium si trova nell’India nord-orientale. Nel Meghalaya, i semi di questa pianta sono utilizzati dalla popolazione locale come veleno per i pesci. Con l’obiettivo di esplorare le proprietà biologiche dei semi della pianta e di consolidare le conoscenze tradizionali, i semi sono stati estratti con vari solventi. Gli estratti sono stati studiati per verificare la presenza di fitocostituenti e attività biologiche. Questo libro presenta una panoramica delle diverse specie di Zanthoxylum e una relazione sullo screening fitochimico con impronta digitale HPTLC di diversi estratti, compreso l’FTIR dell’olio essenziale dei semi. Il libro presenta i risultati degli studi sulle attività biologiche, con particolare attenzione alle proprietà repellenti contro le zanzare, antimicrobiche, antiossidanti, stabilizzanti delle membrane, miorilassanti, antielmintiche e citotossiche.
