Questo documento di ricerca analizza innanzitutto le varie cause di fuga dei rifugiati di origine togolese. Descrive poi le loro esperienze con i trafficanti di esseri umani durante il viaggio. Infine, questo studio cerca di descrivere le sfide che hanno affrontato in Germania. A tal fine, sono state condotte interviste guidate con rifugiati di origine togolese residenti nel Baden-Württemberg. Il materiale ottenuto è stato analizzato utilizzando l’'analisi qualitativa del contenuto' secondo Philipp Mayring, ovvero la 'formazione di categorie deduttive-induttive' e l’'applicazione'. È stato possibile capire che i rifugiati di origine togolese lasciano il loro Paese d’origine a causa della mancanza di 'buon governo'. Questo è caratterizzato dalla mancanza di libertà di espressione, dalla persecuzione delle persone critiche nei confronti del governo, dalla mancanza di posti di lavoro, dalla corruzione e dal nepotismo, nonché dalla cattiva gestione. È emerso inoltre che la politica estera della Francia in Togo contribuisce in parte alla mancanza di buon governo, interferendo nella politica interna del Paese.
