Con apenas un puñado de seguidores, invadió y conquistó Nicaragua, incendió la ciudad de Granada y se convirtió en un personaje detestado por muchos, pero admirado y querido por otros.Walker es el más famoso de los filibusteros y concluyó sus días frente a un pelotón de fusilamiento en la hermosa bahía de Trujillo, Honduras. Allí, en el antiguo cementerio de la ciudad, reposan sus restos. Nació el 30 de marzo de 1879 en Monroe, Carolina del Norte. Falleció en 1957.
