El joven poeta Samuel Cramer intenta ayudar a su amiga Mme de Cosmelly: debe deshacer el romance entre el esposo de ésta y la célebre bailarina Fanfarlo. Se hace pasar por un enamorado de la actriz, pero se toma tan en serio el papel que cae en su propia trampa.Charles Pierre Baudelaire (1821-1867) fue uno de los más notables poetas franceses del siglo XIX. Su vida estuvo marcada por diversas amarguras y por el anhelo de un afuera imposible de encontrar, convergiendo en un desesperado deseo de muerte sólo conjurable por la poesía. Entre sus obras se destacan Las flores del mal (1857) y Los paraísos artificiales (1860). 10
