Durante los siglos XIX y XX la comunidad española de la Argentina se conformó con inmigrantes y, en menor medida, exiliados. En esta obra se aborda a unos y otros de forma conjunta, con el fin de analizar su participación en el ámbito comunitario rioplatense, así como su movilización político-cultural frente a determinadas coyunturas o circunstancias que afectaron a la tierra de origen. Se intenta constatar que, si bien dichas acciones y prácticas sociales habrían implicado la generación de estrategias, vínculos, discursos y producciones artísticas orientados a la sociedad de acogida, también se habrían encaminado a mantener o revitalizar la pertenencia al ámbito de partida, especialmente entre aquellos sujetos que proyectaban el regreso a este último, en el corto o mediano plazo.Nadia Andrea De Cristóforis es Doctora de la Universidad de Buenos Aires, área Historia. Ha finalizado un Programa de Posdoctorado en Ciencias Humanas y Sociales en la Universidad de Buenos Aires (UBA). Se desempeña como investigadora en el Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas y en la UBA, con sede de trabajo en el Instituto de Investigaciones “Gino Germani” (UBA). Es profesora en la UBA y en la Universidad Nacional de Luján. También es Secretaria Académica del Instituto de Historia de España de la UBA. Es editora ejecutiva de Odisea. Revista de Estudios Migratorios y coordinadora editorial de Cuadernos de Historia de España, ambas revistas pertenecientes a la UBA. Ha publicado diversos artículos, capítulos, compilaciones de libros y las siguientes obras como autora única: Proa al Plata: las migraciones de gallegos y asturianos a Buenos Aires (fines del siglo XVIII y comienzos del XIX), 2009; Bajo la Cruz del Sur: gallegos y asturianos en Buenos Aires (1820-1870), 2010; e Inmigrantes y colonos en la provincia de Buenos Aires: una mirada de largo plazo (siglos XIX-XXI), 2016.
