Es ist bekannt, dass der therapeutische Prozess über viele Jahre hinweg größtenteils auf Symptomen und Protokollen basierte und die Humanisierung der Pflege außer Acht ließ. Infolgedessen führte das Stigma einer 'degenerativen und unheilbaren' Krankheit dazu, dass Leprakranke aus dem gesellschaftlichen Leben ausgeschlossen wurden. Die Überlegungen zeigen, dass die Kunsttherapie trotz der unterschiedlichen theoretischen Rahmenbedingungen von einem ästhetischen Menschenbild durchdrungen ist, das den Menschen als schöpferisches Wesen begreift, das in der Lage ist, selbst zum Künstler des Lebens zu werden. Die Schlussfolgerung ist, dass Kunst ein wertvolles Instrument zur Verbesserung der Prognose von Patienten sein kann. Die Geschichte der Umstrukturierung eines Krankenhauses, die den Wiederaufbau des Lebens mehrerer Menschen durch Kunst ermöglicht.
