Niniejsza praca badawcza ma charakter eksploracyjny i stanowi próbę wniesienia kilku uwag dotyczących programu studiów afro-brazylijskich, którego celem jest przegląd wiedzy oraz docenienie historii i kultury afro-brazylijskiej i afrykańskiej. Kwestia, która ma zostać zbadana, dotyczy tego, co czarnoskórzy profesjonaliści z różnych dziedzin, zaangażowani w walkę z rasizmem i dyskryminacją, uważają za fundamentalne w swoich dziedzinach wiedzy i/lub pracy, aby stworzyć program studiów afro-brazylijskich. W tym celu przeprowadzono wywiady z pięcioma (5) profesjonalistami z różnych dziedzin. Opracowano scenariusz wywiadów składający się z piętnastu (15) pytań. W analizie tych pytań starano się zidentyfikować, jaką wiedzę, wartości, postawy i podejścia powinien obejmować program tego rodzaju. Wśród innych aspektów wszyscy uczestnicy uważają, że program taki ma ogromne znaczenie dla tego, aby czarna ludność Brazylii czuła się uwzględniona i doceniona nie tylko w programach nauczania, ale także w społeczeństwie, co przyczyni się do wzrostu jej samooceny i wzmocnienia tożsamości etnicznej i rasowej tej grupy.
