Synopsis    “Journey to Unknown Consequences” The story is the sequel to Journey of Betrayals, in which the lead character Jakob established a new and successful life on the island of Aruba.Years have passed and Jakob is now a respected and established member of Aruban society and business. He finds himself troubled as he reflects on the past and how he had treated and betrayed a number of people who had helped him during the tumultuous times he spent in wartime Europe at the beginning of WWII.His life is interrupted by the arrival of a small boat that leaves a disheveled man on the shore. Shortly thereafter strange happenings start to occur in what had been a quiet society. The arrival of foreign men with unknown purpose creates speculation in the community. Jakob’s son has grown into an astute businessman and is confronted by strangers regarding the family’s business Pressure mounts. Jakob discovers that many associates are reluctant to do business with his companies. Soon his son, Isaac Junior is advised to establish a relationship with a new bank. Suspicious of the individuals and their motives, Isaac rejects their overtures. This results in a series of events involving murder, sabotage and other crimes.Intent on preserving his business and those of his friends, while defeating the criminal activities, Jakob retires and hands the control of the business to Isaac Junior. Jakob embarks on a mission to rid the island of the influence that the mob is having. His task is formidable. He is fighting the Venezuelan based Mafia who are heavily involved in drug trafficking and smuggling. The mob is assisted in these endeavors by an unscrupulous US Coast Guard Lieutenant who uses his patrol in the Caribbean to both assist the mob and benefit him and certain of his crew. He intercepts drug runners and confiscates the drugs from rival gangs. The proceeds are split with the mob.Jakob is made aware of the possible survival of his best friend Juan, who had gone missing on a fishing trip some years earlier. He sets about a rescue mission and quickly encounters the mobs involvement. With the stress created by the problems, his health and mental condition falter. He finally decides he must return to Europe and find the people he had betrayed. Before he can travel to Europe, his health further deteriorates and he seeks treatments. His problems are diagnosed and he travels firstly back to the farm in Canada where he spent his childhood. He is accompanied by Solange, his wife. He is proud to show her the country and takes her to tourist areas including Niagara Falls. They continue onto Europe. He returns to visit those he stayed with and knew at the outbreak of WWII. He is shocked by his findings and the rejections he receives.Tragedy strikes. Jakob has re-established a close friendship with Jan Zelder and is helped through the tragedy by him.During his European trip, a rescue attempt is made deep into the jungles of Colombia in an effort to find his friend from Aruba who had gone missing while fishing.
