Der Roman erzählt die Lebensgeschichte von Jane Eyre, die nach einer schweren Kindheit eine Stelle als Gouvernante annimmt und sich in ihren Arbeitgeber verliebt, jedoch immer wieder um ihre Freiheit und Selbstbestimmung kämpfen muss. Sturmhöhe (Wuthering Heights) ist ein Roman der englischen Schriftstellerin Emily Brontë. Sturmhöhe gilt heute als ein Klassiker der britischen Romanliteratur des 19. Jahrhunderts. Das Buch erzählt von der tragischen symbiotischen Liebe zwischen Catherine, der Tochter des Landbesitzers Mr. Earnshaw, und dem enigmatischen Findelkind Heathcliff. Charlotte Brontë (1816-1855) war eine britische Schriftstellerin. Sie veröffentlichte ihre Romane (Jane Eyre, Shirley, Villette, Der Professor) unter dem Pseudonym Currer Bell. Emily Jane Brontë (1818-1848) war eine britische Schriftstellerin, die durch ihren einzigen Roman Sturmhöhe bekannt wurde. Emily Brontë veröffentlichte ausschließlich unter dem Pseudonym Ellis Bell.
