Der Islam ist in der heutigen Zeit auf gesellschaftlicher, politischer und religiöser Ebene ein vielseitiges und aktuell kontrovers diskutiertes Thema. - Mit dem Buch „Islam und Soziale Arbeit' wollen die Autorin S.C. Ramseier und der Autor J. Božić zuerst einen Einblick in den Islam geben, um in einem nächsten Schritt der Frage nachzugehen: Was bedeutet Soziale Arbeit im Islam? Dabei gehen sie von der westlichen Definition gemäss „International Federation of Social Workers' (IFSW) sowie von Theorien Sozialer Arbeit aus. Daraus ergibt sich die Frage: Ist es möglich und legitim, unser westliches Verständnis Sozialer Arbeit in einen islamischen Kontext zu übertragen? Im Fokus dieser Übertragungsfrage sind sozialarbeiterisch zentrale Themen wie Menschenrechte, Menschenbilder und soziale Gerechtigkeit. Die Autoren schaffen anhand einer literarischen Recherche einen Zugang zu dieser Thematik mit der Maxime, weg von Problemfragen hin zu Klärungsfragen. Mittels Wissenstransfer über das Konstrukt Soziale Arbeit in der islamischen Welt leisten die Autoren einen Beitrag zur Sozialen Arbeit und konstruieren damit weiterführende Thesen zum Thema Islam und Soziale Arbeit.
