A rápida urbanização nos países em desenvolvimento, como Moçambique, está ocorrendo de maneira insustentável, contribuindo para a degradação da qualidade de vida e do meio ambiente. O planeamento urbano inadequado e a ocupação desordenada das áreas de baixa renda têm aumentado a vulnerabilidade das populações às inundações.As inundações urbanas representam um desafio crítico em Moçambique, causando danos materiais e socioeconômicos incalculáveis, especialmente em relação à saúde da população. Este fenômeno é uma das principais preocupações socio-ambientais no país.O presente estudo visa investigar a relação existente entre as inundações urbanas e a saúde da população do Distrito Municipal Nhlamankhulu, localizado em Maputo, Moçambique. O tema é de extrema relevância devido aos impactos adversos que as inundações têm causado à saúde humana e ao bem-estar das comunidades locais.Ao mesmo tempo, este estudo se insere no contexto mais amplo da gestão de riscos ambientais, enfatizando a importância da interdisciplinaridade e do avanço científico e tecnológico na compreensão e enfrentamento desses desafios.
