Dieses Buch behandelt die praktische Handhabung von Interviewer- und Befragtenverhalten auf der Grundlage von Theorien rationalen Handelns. Neben der Einführung in die Thematik gibt der erste Teil des Buches einen Überblick über die theoretischen Ansätze zum Interviewer- und Befragtenverhalten sowie eine soziologisch-theoretische Integration dieser Ansätze. Der zweite Teil widmet sich den Verzerrungsursachen von Befragungsergebnissen. Im dritten Teil werden mit Hilfe einer mündlichen Befragung systematisch Einflüsse von sichtbaren und nichtsichtbaren Merkmalen von Tendenzen zur sozialen Erwünschtheit auf das Antwortverhalten untersucht. Abschließend werden die empirischen Ergebnisse mit den theoretischen Ansätzen konfrontiert, Meß- und Operationalisierungsprobleme dargelegt sowie praktische Kosequenzen für die empirische Sozialforschung genannt.
