Este estudo analisa a interpretação do inglês - língua de comunicação mais alargada - para o Moghamo - língua de comunicação mais restrita. Foram definidos três objectivos: expor as dificuldades que os intérpretes enfrentam no desempenho da sua função; avaliar o impacto na comunicação efectiva nos Moghamo; e mostrar o impacto das suas interpretações na língua e nos receptores Moghamo. Os dados foram recolhidos a partir de fontes documentais, entrevistas e participação observadora, e analisados com base em alguns dos principais ramos linguísticos: fonologia, semântica, morfologia e lexicologia. A investigação conduziu às seguintes conclusões: Os intérpretes naturais têm pouco ou nenhum conhecimento do código de ética que rege a profissão. Consequentemente, o público é geralmente mal informado e até mesmo explorado; 2) O code-switching contribui significativamente para a pletora de estrangeirismos ingleses utilizados regularmente em Moghamo; e 3) A série de estrangeirismos atualmente utilizados em Moghamo é prejudicial porque ameaça a sua própria existência e sobrevivência. O resultado é a existência do que o investigador chama de língua Moghamo híbrida. Há, portanto, uma necessidade urgente de impedir que o Moghamo se extinga, embora este último tenha sido enriquecido com palavras de empréstimo.
