Intelligente Routing-Protokolle wurden zu einem wichtigen Verfahren, um die Leistung des Routings in mobilen Ad-hoc-Netzwerken (MANETs) zu verbessern und einen effizienten Betrieb dieser Netzwerke zu erreichen, indem eine schnelle Routenfindung, schnelle Konnektivität, geringe Verzögerungen und geringer Overhead gewährleistet werden. Dieses Buch stellt ein neuartiges Verfahren für MANET-Routing-Protokolle vor, das als Intelligent Ant Sense Routing Protocol (INTANTSENSE) bekannt ist. Dieses Protokoll nutzt Verhaltensstudien von „Ameisen' in der Natur, bekannt als Ameisenkolonieoptimierung, um optimale Routing-Aktivitäten durchzuführen. Das Ameisen-Routing-Konzept ist ein neues Schema für das Routing, das vom Verhalten echter Ameisen inspiriert ist, die in dieser Studie verwendet wurden. Das neue Protokoll (INTANTSENSE) wurde in einer realen MANET-Umgebung über ein persönliches Netzwerk mit IEEE 802.15.4 WPAN entwickelt und simuliert und zeigt nach der Analyse zufriedenstellende Leistungen, darunter optimales Pfad-Routing, schnelle Routenfindung und effektive Behandlung von Routing-Fehlern.
