Celem niniejszej pracy jest opisanie części procesu socjokognitywnej instytucjonalizacji dziedziny organizacji wiedzy. W tym celu przeprowadzono diachroniczną analizę języka używanego przez społeczność naukową podczas kongresów Międzynarodowego Towarzystwa Organizacji Wiedzy (ISKO), uznając tę organizację za reprezentatywną dla dziedziny ze względu na jej centralną rolę. Poszukiwano wsparcia teoretycznego w kręgu Bachtina, w odniesieniu do ideologicznego charakteru znaku i dialogizmu, oraz u Whitley’a (1974), w odniesieniu do wzajemności między instytucjami społecznymi i poznawczymi. Przeprowadzono analizę procesu teoretyzowania dziedziny, począwszy od pierwszych sformułowań teoretycznych dotyczących klasyfikacji bibliograficznej, a także usystematyzowano stwierdzenia użyte w osiach tematycznych i ich korelację z autorami i organizatorami jedenastu edycji (1990-2010) międzynarodowych konferencji ISKO. Kierunki filozoficzne i odpowiadający im autorzy zostali przedstawieni za pomocą map koncepcyjnych. W ten sposób możliwe było wizualizowanie interferencji czasowo-przestrzennych i zmian opcji ideologicznych w rozwoju tej dziedziny.
