Questo studio esplora lo sviluppo e la caratterizzazione di bioplastiche a base di amido di mais come alternativa ecologica alle plastiche sintetiche. Utilizzando amido di mais, glicerolo, aceto (5% di acido acetico) e acqua, sono state testate diverse composizioni per valutare il contenuto di umidità, la resistenza alla trazione, la solubilità, la biodegradabilità e l’infiammabilità. I risultati hanno indicato che il contenuto di glicerolo e aceto ha influenzato significativamente le proprietà meccaniche, con un intervallo ottimale di glicerolo dell’8%-13% e di aceto del 7%-14%. Il test di biodegradabilità ha mostrato una degradazione del 60% in sei giorni, mentre il test di infiammabilità ha rivelato una combustione del 90%. Lo studio conclude che i campioni più performanti sono adatti per applicazioni di imballaggio, offrendo una soluzione sostenibile all’inquinamento da plastica.
