Un’ampia percentuale di pazienti sperimenta vari livelli di ansia quando si sottopone a un intervento chirurgico, un evento critico nella vita del paziente. Questo studio si propone di analizzare la relazione tra le informazioni di cui i pazienti dispongono e l’ansia, e se alcune variabili sociodemografiche influenzano tale ansia. È stato condotto uno studio quantitativo, descrittivo-correlazionale su 200 pazienti sottoposti a chirurgia elettiva. Sono stati utilizzati un questionario di caratterizzazione sociodemografica, una scala di informazione e l’IDATE-Y1. I risultati mostrano che i pazienti si percepiscono più informati sugli aspetti organizzativi e logistici, rispetto all’assistenza infermieristica. Per quanto riguarda il livello di ansia preoperatoria, sono state riscontrate differenze statisticamente significative in base al sesso. D’altra parte, l’informazione preoperatoria è risultata significativamente correlata al numero di membri della famiglia e alla durata della lista d’attesa. Per quanto riguarda le informazioni preoperatorie, si può concludere che gli infermieri dovrebbero investire nel rafforzamento delle informazioni sull’assistenza infermieristica.
