The 'boy' is Dorothy’s 'son of the heart', a young Indian man who asked Dorothy to be his mother, when his own mother died, as she had befriended his parents many years previously. This developing mother-son relationship brings Dorothy to India, where she becomes inspired to help children in need. It took ten years to bring this dream to a reality, with the opening of a school, the House of Hope, in the slum area of Chandigarh, a city in the Punjab, North India.'India beckons' is the ongoing story of the miraculous transformation of a group of children and their families, brought about by the provision of education, love and care at the House of Hope.
