As cifras de bloco são as ferramentas centrais para processar a maior parte dos dados encriptados no mundo atual. É crucial que elas sejam implementadas de forma eficiente em plataformas de hardware e/ou software. Além disso, os códigos de correção de erros são usados para proteger os dados digitais transmitidos através de canais de comunicação não confiáveis. As pessoas preferem confiar em códigos de bloco bem conhecidos, por exemplo, códigos Hamming, códigos Reed-Solomon, etc., enquanto os códigos LDPC (Low Density Parity Check) foram ignorados durante 30 anos desde o momento em que Robert Gallager os introduziu na sua tese de doutorado, em 1960. Hoje em dia, os códigos LDPC são o oposto. Eles são os tópicos mais atraentes na teoria da codificação. Os códigos LDPC são geralmente longos, com grande probabilidade de reduzir a perda de informação em um canal de comunicação ruidoso. São introduzidos algoritmos de codificação e descodificação muito rápidos, implementados no Matlab. O meu trabalho é focar na implementação desses algoritmos em C.
