O estudo examina o impacto do Fundo do Programa de Garantia de Crédito Agrícola (ACGSF) no crescimento económico da Nigéria entre 1978 e 2011. O PIB, a inflação, os empréstimos para culturas comerciais e os empréstimos para pecuária são as variáveis utilizadas. A investigação examina a relação de longo prazo entre o crédito aos agricultores e o crescimento económico. Também mostra a direção da causalidade entre o crédito aos agricultores e o crescimento económico. Foi utilizado o modelo vetorial autorregressivo e foram realizados os testes de Augmented Dickey Fuller (ADF) e Phillips Perron (PP) para raízes unitárias. O estudo concluiu que existe uma relação de longo prazo entre a inflação e os empréstimos para culturas comerciais, bem como entre a inflação e os empréstimos para a pecuária. Recomenda-se, portanto, que o governo garanta o desembolso e o monitoramento adequados dos empréstimos concedidos aos agricultores, bem como proporcione um ambiente propício por meio de suas atividades fiscais para promover suas atividades e regular as flutuações de preços, a fim de restaurar a confiança neles.
