Quarenta e dois ratos Wistar adultos, com 7-8 semanas de idade, pesando cerca de 160-200 gramas, foram distribuídos aleatoriamente por seis grupos experimentais, com cinco ratos Wistar em cada grupo: O grupo 1 (controlo) recebeu água destilada (1 ml/rato) por via oral. O grupo 2 (IND50mg/kg) jejuou durante 48 horas antes da injeção intraperitoneal de indometacina. O grupo 3 (100mg/kg CMD+50mg/kg IND) recebeu cimetidina (100mg/kg) por via oral durante duas semanas. O grupo 4 (100mg/kg AD+50mg/kg IND) recebeu extrato aquoso de folhas de A.digitata l. (100mg/kg) diariamente durante duas semanas por via oral. O grupo 5 (150mg/kg AD+50mg/kg IND) recebeu um extrato aquoso de folhas de A. digitata l. (150mg/kg) diariamente durante duas semanas por via oral. O grupo 6 (200 mg/kg AD+50mg/kg IND) recebeu um extrato aquoso de folhas de A. digitata l. (200mg/kg) diariamente durante duas semanas, por via oral. Os grupos tratados com indometacina, cimetidina e todos os extractos foram submetidos a um jejum de 48 horas antes da injeção intraperitoneal de indometacina (50mg/kg) para a indução de úlceras.
