L’obiettivo di questa ricerca è stato quello di analizzare il contenuto delle notizie sulla Coppa del Mondo 2014 trasmesse dal canale televisivo brasiliano Jornal da Globo in quell’anno. A tal fine, lo studio ha preso in esame concetti quali il telegiornalismo, l’agenda setting, il framing, i formati giornalistici, l’analisi del discorso e l’analisi del contenuto, basandosi principalmente su autori come Guilherme Rezende, Juarez Bahia, Mauro Wolf, Antonio Rubim, Nilson Lage, Michel Foucault, Dominique Maingueneau e Laurence Bardin. Questa ricerca si caratterizza come studio teorico, e la parte relativa all’analisi del contenuto e all’analisi del discorso si configura anche come studio descrittivo, consistente in uno studio ibrido di indicatori quantitativi e qualitativi degli articoli giornalistici analizzati sul tema oggetto di studio. L’analisi e l’interpretazione dei significati incorporati nel discorso giornalistico sviluppato attraverso diverse strategie discorsive, come gli indicatori relativi alle immagini, al testo giornalistico e alla lunghezza media delle notizie analizzate, costituiscono la base di questa ricerca.
